About Mishon D. Montgomery

Mishon D. Montgomery is a passionate, award-winning motivational speaker, trainer, strategist, and coach. A United States Air Force Veteran with 20 years and 9 days of honorable service, she has experience driving social impact initiatives and excels in leveraging leadership and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) concepts to create cultures of belonging in an equitable and accessible manner producing long-term sustainable change. Proudly hanging her boots in North Las Vegas, she is a wife, mother, dog mom, business owner, advocate, and candidate for Nevada State Assembly, District 17.

Enlisting in the United States Air Force on 22 October 2002, her service has taken her all over the world, supporting multiple Major Commands, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Noble Eagle. Despite her various travels, it was Nevada, specifically, North Las Vegas that she decided to finally call home.

Mishon has been honored with many prestigious awards for her commitment to excellence and dedication to service, including, but not limited to: The Bob-Hope Spirit of Hope Award; The NAACP Roy Wilkins Renown Service Award; The Brigadier General Wilma Vaught Visionary Leader Award; The Blacks In Government Military Leader Award, and was presented a Proclamation by Nevada State Assemblywomen for her dedicated service to country and community.

I have always worked to make the lives of those around me better and I am excited to continue that work in AD 17, North Las Vegas, and for the State of Nevada.”

Leveraging her military experience and passion for DEI, Mishon retired from the United States Air Force in 2022 and began partnering with organizations globally to produce effective, culture changing strategies and provide powerful facilitation that inspires and motivates leaders and professionals to meet the demands of a rapidly diversifying workplace and community.

Mishon sits on the boards of Emerge Nevada, focusing on recruiting, training, and providing powerful networks to increase the number of women from diverse backgrounds in public office and Silver State Equality, a statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization, that strives to create a world that is healthy, just and fully equal for all LGBTQ+ people. Additionally, she sits on the U.S. Vets, Las Vegas advisory board and the Nevada HAND Collaborative Emerging Leaders board, both focusing on creating and maintaining housing solutions in southern Nevada.

Mishon holds a Master of Public Administration (Public Policy and Governance) and maintains Diversity and Inclusion Certifications from Cornell University and Coach Diversity Institute. She has also earned a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, is a Certified Master Resilience Trainer, Motivational Speaker, and Life Transformation Coach. An eternal optimist, Mishon consistently marvels in the deliciousness of life.
